The Seven Aims
Every Adventure Guides expedition in the country shares these seven. New families hear them read by torchlight at induction, one dad-and-daughter pair per aim. Then everybody says “Wahoka!”

Aim 2 is where the motto comes from. Friends Forever. We were not kidding.
The Compass Pin Program
Twenty-six pins, four directions, one vest that barely fits by fifth grade. Each pin is a small adventure a dad and daughter do together outside of campouts — grow a plant, learn three knots, hike two miles, present the family tree to the circle. Finish a direction and she earns the patch that goes around her Compass. Finish all four and the whole expedition hears about it.
Pins go on her lanyard; there’s a punch card for the girls who like checking boxes and a log for the girls who like keeping score. Made by dads in the program, for dads in the program.
NORTH · 6 PINS
Family
True North. The foundation of the program.
- Circle Names — know every guide name in your circle
- Seven Aims — learn and recite the Seven Aims
- Good Conduct Crown — good conduct at three circle meetings in a row
- Mom’s Night Off — plan, shop, cook, serve, and do the dishes. Mom is not allowed in the kitchen.
- Family Tree — present your family tree to the circle
- Three Home Crafts — three crafts representing your circle’s values
EAST · 6 PINS
Nature
Nature and camping are what the program is made of.
- Grow a Plant — grow a fruit or vegetable
- Two-Mile Hike — dad and daughter, two miles, together
- Athletics Trophy — push-ups, sit-ups and a jog, or swim, dive and tread water
- Camping Trip — a dad-and-daughter campout
- Animal Report — report on five endangered species
- Scrapbook — a photo scrapbook of one event

Community
Where the spirit of the program lives — your circle.
- Animal Tracks — draw and identify three animal tracks
- National Park — report on a national park you visited
- Native Animals — report on seven native animals
- Discovery Trip — a special dad-and-daughter trip
- Geology — collect and display ten rocks or gems
- Meteorology — identify and draw three cloud formations

Fun
Fun is the magic of the program.
- Role Reversal — dad and daughter swap roles for a day
- Walking Stick — make a walking stick or a pair of stilts
- Knife Safety — demonstrate knife safety and carving
- Knots — tie the basic knots
- Fire Safety — light a campfire; put out wood, clothing and grease fires
- First Aid — choking, bleeding, trouble breathing
